Tiny House Dream

My husband and I live in a house in the suburbs. It's a great house, with plenty of space for us and lots of room to move around. We both have our own offices and even a "hammock room" where literally, a hammock hangs from one corner to the other. It's the most zen room that's ever existed.

Our house is perfect for us in this season. We've learned a heap about financial responsibility now that a mortgage is in the picture. Having a whole room to myself to create and work and store my excessive amounts of crafting material is truly fantastic. We love our house.

But, with all of this greatness about it, we both know that this isn't it. Someday, instead of moving to a bigger, greater house, we hope to move to a smaller one. Right now, at 1,600 square feet, we're doing great. But, we hope to migrate down to at most 1,000 square feet.

And, yes, even with kids.

The benefits outweigh the space issue tremendously! Substantially cheaper mortgage; cheaper electricity bill; less time spent cleaning, decorating and maintaining. All of this can lead to more freedom in life. That money we would have spent on our mortgage can now go towards a trip, complete independence in my career or sponsoring more Compassion children.

So, for now, I'm just dreaming of what our house would look like. The smaller space and more freedom. And these photos are just the inspiration to keep my dream alive.
