spring bucket list #1
Man, I absolutely love this spring bucket list. If I wasn't trying to keep to those "to-dos" then I would never have actually planted a flower. But here it is! Sitting so sweetly on my window sill.
I opted to buy some zinnia seeds because they were cheap and I read online that they were very hard to kill (fingers crossed). Digging my hands into moist potting mix and softly patting down the soil into the pot felt refreshing to me. And, in a surprise twist, I started to have visions of planting a vegetable garden some day after browsing through the garden center and looking through all of the vegetables I could grow.
What's crazy, though, is that I'm not much of a gardener at all. In fact, when my husband and I were dating, he planted a lily seed after our first date. Once it had grown fully, he gave it to me to continue growing it. Well, the poor thing only lasted about a week under my care. Thankfully, our relationship didn't die with the flower, but ever since then, I've wanted to be better about flowers and plants. And not just because they're pretty.
I've also wanted to plant a flower because of the sweet reminder it brings to me: that good things take time. Growing a dream or a business or a flower doesn't happen over night. It takes cultivation and mundanity to see growth. So I'm putting this little flower near my work space to remind me to just keep moving forward. Growth is happening, even if it doesn't feel like it all the time.
